At St James we are an Oracy School.
What is Oracy?
Oracy is both learning to and through talk. It is through talk that children have the opportunity to develop and share their understanding, through interactions with both teachers and peers.

ORACY is listening to understand.
ORACY is changing people's minds.
ORACY is telling compelling stories.

The Oracy Framework below outlines the elements which underpin successful communication skills and provides a useful tool for analysing speech.
The Framework enables students and teachers to understand what effective communication looks like and to put strategies in place to improve specific speaking and listening skills.
